All About Pegasus Class
In Pegasus Class, we have lots of fun and are very enthusiastic about our learning!
This term, our topic has been The Stone Age to the Iron Age. For our summer homework, we created magnificent models such as ‘Spongehenge’ and have enjoyed exploring prehistoric life. We have learnt about Iron Age religion and created our own Druid Crowns using the nature around us. Additionally, we have discovered that the Stone Age was actually made up of three time periods: Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. They were all quite different!
These are our Druid Crowns:
In English, we have been reading ‘Ug: Boy Genius of the Stone Age’ by Raymond Briggs. We have used this book as inspiration for our own Stone Age stories. We also enjoy listening to stories and read ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes before half term.
In Maths, we started the year learning about Place Value. We are now learning about addition and subtraction. This has been a good challenge for us and we are beginning to master column addition…column subtraction is next! In Pegasus class we like to use resources such as bead strings, Base 10, Whiteboards and Place Value counters
One of our favourite lessons is Art. We have enjoyed using our art work to decorate our classroom – it now looks much brighter. We created Autumn trees using paint and careful dots for the leaves. We also wrote autumnal poems to match our trees.
Science in Pegasus is very exciting because we like to discuss ideas with our talk partners and ask lots of questions. This term we have studied rocks and fossils. We have also started to explore how light travels. We will soon be exploring how light reflects!
We also like to practise our spellings and handwriting.
Thank you for reading,
From L and E
